                      Three short presentations about equipment, six classic flies for our area, and places to fish.
 
OCTOBER CLUB MEETING – OCTOBER 15, 2024, 6-8 PM at BoomTown Woodfire Bar & Grill, 4483 Martin Rd, Duluth.

                    PROGRAM:  Twelve Classic Flies to fish on the Bois Brule.  Speaker:  Bill Nygaard

The presentation will provide a description of 12 classic flies that catch stream trout on Wisconsin’s Brule River, their origins, and how to fish them.

                   PROGRAM:  Annual Meeting and Speaker Matt Miller, MN Conservation Officer

Matthew Miller, MN DNR Conservation Officer since 2007, will talk about his work. His focus has been on watercraft, sport and commercial fishing on the big lake, and sport fishing activities on the tributaries. Matthew took his first fly tying class when he was 10 years old! Come hear some interesting stories.

“Stream side walks” will again occur this year.  There will be both weekday evenings and weekend excursions as the days get shorter.  The weekend walks will take us a little further out from the city center and be longer.  The expected schedule is:

October 9, 5:30 pm Keene Creek at the park in Hermantown on Okerstrom Road off Morris-Thomas (with a special guest guide)

October 16, 5:30 pm Miller Creek behind Kohls department store.

October 23, 5:30 pm Amity Creek at the parking lot at the top of Seven Bridges Road

October 26, 10:00 am Sargent Creek at the Short Line parking lot on Beck’s Road

November 2, 10:00 am Us-kab-wan-ka at Big Pool #2 on Munger-Shaw #223

November 6, 5:30 pm Chester Creek at Chester Bowl

November 16, 10:00 am Otter Creek at parking lot in Carlton City and may branch out from there; alternatively, Stewart River on Big Rock Road North of Two Harbors
